State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report about a retail theft that occurred Friday at the Minit Mart in Morris Township. During the incident, a 25-year-old Morrisdale man allegedly took six lighters, three pairs of sunglasses and a pack of AAA batteries. The total amount stolen was $59.40, state police say. Charges were filed through the district court.
State police at DuBois
- State police reported on a “habitual offender” that was stopped May 15 on the Rockton Mountain Highway near Spruce Hill Road in Union Township. According to state police, a male was subjected to a traffic stop for a speeding violation. He was unable to provide a valid driver’s license and falsely identified himself. Upon further investigation, state police found the male had a suspended driver’s license and had been subjected to five previous driving under suspension offenses. Charges were filed through the magistrate’s office in DuBois.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police will conduct a DUI checkpoint during the month of July. It will focus on removing impaired drivers from the highway.
State police at Ridgway
- State police received a report about a retail theft that occurred Saturday at Wal-Mart in Fox Township. During the incident, a known 51-year-old Ridgway woman was allegedly caught on video surveillance stealing multiple items. Charges were filed through the district court.
Clearfield Borough
- Police were requested to assist hospital staff with a patient who was being disorderly. Upon arrival, police assisted with gaining control of the patient.
- Police received a report about a female who was outside yelling along East 11th Upon arrival, police found that she was outside due to a bat being inside her residence. Police were able to remove the bat.
- Clearfield Borough police were requested to assist Lawrence Township police with a motor vehicle accident in Glen Richey.
- Police assisted a motorist who had locked their keys inside their vehicle along Daisy Street.
- Police responded to a minor vehicle collision on Turnpike Avenue. Police say a motorist backed their vehicle into another vehicle, causing damage.
- Police received a report about people who were refusing to leave a West Locust Street residence. However, they left prior to police arrival at the scene.
- Police took a male into custody along Temple Avenue after he was found to have arrest warrants. He was also allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Police attempted to locate a vehicle that was reportedly being driven erratically in the area of U.S. Route 322. Police were unable to locate it.
- Police arrested a male along East Market Street for allegedly being under the influence and for having an arrest warrant through Huntington County. He was subsequently taken to the jail.
- Police responded to an activated alarm along Bridge Street. Upon arrival, police found the business to be secured.
Lawrence Township
- Police reported on an incident of DUI that occurred Saturday in the Toasted Monkey parking lot on Washington Avenue. According to police, a traffic stop was conducted due to a vehicle having an expired registration. The driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and taken into custody. He was released to his wife after a legal blood draw; charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police investigated a report of furnishing alcohol to minors that occurred Friday at the Snappy’s Convenience Store. During the incident, a male allegedly purchased multiple 12 packs for a group of Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School graduates at the store. Police say that one juvenile was transported from the scene, and the male was taken into custody. The male was housed in county jail with charges pending.
- Police conducted a traffic stop Sunday on the Clearfield-Shawville Highway. During the stop, police observed a cooler in the back seat and questioned the occupants. Later, it was allegedly discovered that it contained two cases of alcoholic beverages and other loose beer. Police seized the cooler and advised the occupants that they were unable to be in possession of alcohol since they were all age 18 and under. Citations were filed through the district court.
- Police reported on a drug-related incident that occurred Saturday on Route 453. During the incident, Christopher A. Luce, 31, of Madera was arrested on outstanding warrants. He was also allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges were filed through the district court.
- Police reported on a drug-related DUI that occurred Friday on Washington Avenue. According to police, Clearfield emergency personnel requested assistance with a female who was slumped over the wheel inside her vehicle. Upon arrival, police determined that she was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance. She was taken to the hospital for a legal blood draw and charges are currently pending.
DuBois City
- Police responded to a reported vehicle accident at DuBois Logistics. A male told police he was inside his Peterbilt truck and it was parked on the loading docks when he felt a “jolt.” He said the truck, which was adjacent to his, hooked the driver’s side front wheel well on his truck. As a result, his truck sustained moderate damage; the other truck’s trailer was “lightly damaged.” Police assisted with the exchange of information at the scene.
- While on routine patrol, police encountered a male, identified as John Pentz. He had a warrant for his arrest through the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. Police took Pentz to the station to await the arrival of sheriff deputies.
- Police received a report about an activated alarm at a business in the 100 block of Fuller Street. Upon arrival, police found the building was secured.
- Police received a report about a wanted female in the area of Spring Avenue and South Main Street. She was to have warrants out for her arrest. Police searched the area; however, she was gone upon their arrival.
- Police responded to a reported two-vehicle accident on North Brady Street. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were driven from the scene. Police cleared the scene after confirming the drivers had exchanged the necessary information.
- Police responded to a report about a three-vehicle accident in the 200 block of West Long Avenue. Upon arrival, police learned a driver had applied the gas pedal instead of the brake. Their vehicle rear-ended a parked vehicle, which subsequently struck the one ahead of it.
- Police received a report about two intoxicated and disorderly males in the area of West Weber Avenue and South Franklin Street. Upon arrival, police found the males were gone.
