DuBois Council to Permit Access Road to Landlocked Sandy Twp. Property

DUBOIS – On Tuesday, DuBois City Council voted to permit the construction of an access road to a landlocked Sandy Township property on Tower Lane.

All council members voted in favor with exception to Councilwoman Diane Bernardo, who opposed.

Council had delayed its decision to determine if it would be legal to permit residents to back out onto Tower Lane.

However, this issue was resolved when council learned there would be a cul-de-sac. It would permit residents to pull forward onto Tower Lane.

Bernardo repeatedly asked about the township’s plans to help the property owner. She also asked if they had even approached township officials.

City Engineer Chris Nasuti said the owner and their developer had approached city officials at one point with Township Engineer Perry Bowser.

“So, Sandy Township is coming to us to fix this?” asked Bernardo. She also asked about the possibility of seeking remuneration from the township.

Councilman Ed Walsh said the way he looked at it Sandy Township would be purchasing water and sewer from DuBois. He also pointed out that the roadway will be plowed anyways.
