CLEARFIELD – Several individuals and groups helped spruce up downtown Clearfield on May 19. Their efforts were part of the Clearfield Revitalization Corp.’s (CRC) annual Beautification Day.

In addition to residents, participating groups included CNB Bank employees, Clearfield basketball players, Cancer Support Group of Clearfield and Daisy Troop 46715.

These volunteers helped clean up sidewalks, as well as spruce up the tree boxes with fresh mulch. They also worked together on other beautification projects.

Current and former Clearfield Borough council members, along with Clearfield basketball players, cleaned up a section of the Susquehanna River bank along South Front Street.

Daisy Scouts, with help from their families, completed a beautification project at Upper Witmer Park. It also included the area between Upper and Lower Witmer parks.

“The CRC is proud to work with our Clearfield business employees, residents, groups and students. It empowers them to benefit our community through Beautification Day,” says Main Street Manager Loretta Wagner.

“We want our kids to be part of community development and be able to take pride in our town. It’s important for residents and kids to be invested in our community and this is a great project for all.”

The Shaw Park is also a focal point during Beautification Day. It is home to the Santa House and the summertime Corner Concert Series. The concert series opens at 7 p.m. June 1.

The CRC is a non-profit organization that implements the Main Street Program in Clearfield.

The Main Street Program is a volunteer-based revitalization program focusing on promotion and special events, design and beautification, business retention and recruitment, as well as sustainability and organization.

The CRC organizes several events for Clearfield and its residents. The upcoming events include the oldies concert at 7 p.m. June 2 at the Clearfield Riverwalk and the Bloom and Berry Bash/Rubber Duck Derby on June 23.
