Norman R. Brown Sr., 86, of Osceola Mills died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at his home.

Born Oct. 12, 1931, he was the son of the late James and Ida (Osewalt) Brown.

He married Ruth Ann (Love) Brown on Sept. 22, 1956 in Houtzdale. She survives at home.

Mr. Brown was a member of the Osceola Mills Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Osceola Lodge No. 515 Free & Accepted Masons and the Altoona Consistory.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a former Philipsburg-Osceola school board member, serving as its president for four years.

He was a member of the founding board of the Central Intermediate Unit (CIU); a former member of the Osceola Mills Recreation Board; a pack leader for the Cub Scouts No. 48 for eight years; a former member and president of the Umbria Cemetery Board; and a member of the Nittany Lion Club. He was also a ruling elder of the church.

Mr. Brown was a retired housing manager at the Penn State University and a parking lot supervisor at Beaver Stadium for Penn State football.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Brown.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Connie McCartney and her husband, Tim and Linda Fetzer and her husband, Tom, all of State College; two sons, Norman R. Brown Jr. and his wife, Lorie and James H. Brown and his wife, Melissa, all of State College; and three sisters, Lorraine Gill and her husband, Clarence of Boyertown and Donna J. Henry and Elaine Mathis, both of Osceola Mills.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Todd Brown, Christen Latsley, Ashley Pankiw, Chelsea McCartney and Makayla Fetzer.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Osceola Mills Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert W. Bruinooge officiating.  Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills.

A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard at the cemetery.
