Lady Tide Topple Purchase Line, 9-4

CURWENSVILLE – Despite being out hit 11-7, the Curwensville Lady Tide softball squad was able to pick up a win Friday afternoon, in Curwensville, 9-4, over Purchase line.

Back on April 13, the Lady Tide beat Purchase Line on the road, 6-2.

After the Lady Red Dragons picked up a run in the top of the first the Lady Tide quickly scored two in he bottom of inning number one.

Abby Pentz and Bailey Bloom crossed the plate for Curwensville to give the Tide a one run margin, a lead they would maintain the remainder of the contest.

A lead off single by Ally Hess in the home half of the second inning got the Tide rolling as Hess would later score on a RBI single by Ariel Zattoni to left field.

The third frame proved to be the biggest for Curwensville as Pentz, Bloom and Mackenzie Anderson all would score that put the Lady Tide up 6-2 after three. The Lady Red Dragons scored a lone tally in the top of the third.

Curwensville scored two more in the fourth and one in the fifth while Purchase Line added two in the seventh to end the afternoon’s scoring.

Tide hurler Rachel LeGars went the distance for the win even though giving up those 11 Lady Red Dragon hits. LeGars struck out five and had perfect control that helped her secure the win as she issued zero walks.

Pentz had two hits on the day and scored three runs while Bloom had the only Lady Tide extra base hit, a double in the second inning.

Purchase Line pitcher Maddie Ober smacked out three hits with Aliya Nichol, Kristin Zurenko and Lucy Lee each having two.

Ober and Nichol had triples while Zurenko picked up a double for the Dragons.

The Tide, now 5-4, take a long road trip on Saturday to Boswell to play the North Star Lady Cougars with an 11 am game time start.
