Paul E. Dimond, 79, of Chester Hill died Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. He was born Feb. 28, 1939 in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

He was of the Christian faith. He graduated in 1957 from Niagara Falls High School. Following high school, he served with the Navy for 10 years, which included service during the Vietnam War era.

After concluding his naval service, he was employed as an information technology supervisor with the former Philipsburg State General Hospital until it was closed.

He was then employed as a supervisor with PennDOT, Clearfield District Office, until his retirement.

He was married April 25, 1984, in (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg, to the former Carol Joan Butterworth, who survives at home.

He is also survived by one daughter, Rebecca L. Dimond and her companion, Darren Zapsky of Coalport; a son, Gary L. Harrison and his wife, Patty of Irvona; six grandchildren, Zachary, Deanna and her fiancé, Joe, Christina, Daniele, Kayla and her husband, Shane and Chrissy and her husband, Derek; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Verla of Freedom, Pa.; a son-in-law, Wayne Gibbs of Lanse; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lysa R. Gibbs; a son, Douglas E. Dimond; a grandson, Brad Harrison; two sisters, Marge and Ruth; and two brothers, Kenneth and Richard.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with Pastor Jim Hollister, officiating.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Philipsburg Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
