Raymond F. “Windy” Maines, 86, of Shiloh went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born Sept. 25, 1931 in Blaucs Mesnil, France, he was the son of the late Lewis and Julia Richard Maines.
On May 28, 1954, he wed Dolores R. Bock Maines at the Dale United Methodist Church, Bigler. She preceded him in death in 2014.
He is survived by his children, Vickie Erickson and her husband, Tom of Kylertown and Jody J. Maines of Shiloh; grandchildren, Doug Maines, Brian Maines, Tiffany English and Tylor Erickson; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Mitchell Maines of Clearfield.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sons, Barry, Rick and Terry Maines; one sister; and four brothers.
Mr. Maines retired from Lady Jane Colliery, Penfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Leigey-Renaud Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8386, Frenchville.
He cherished the time he spent with his wife and going camping with her. He also loved playing cards with his friends.
There will be no public visitation. A public Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Dale United Methodist Church, Bigler, with Lay Minister Bill Conway officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Clearfield VFW Post 1785, Clearfield.
