Obituary Notice: Jesse Ray Wallace

Jesse Ray Wallace, 90, of Woodland died Monday, April 9, 2018 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Mr. Wallace was born May 15, 1927, the son of Jesse D. and Minnie (Woodling) Wallace.

He had worked for Lady Jane Collieries, Rustin Mine and Lansberry Coal Company.

He also had his own excavating business. He was well-known for the backhoe service he provided to many people as well as opening graves at various cemeteries.

Mr. Wallace was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during World War II.

He was a member of the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785. Mr. Wallace was an avid hunter.

He is survived by his son, Eugene Keith Wallace and his wife, Paula of Rockton; a brother, Marvin T. Wallace of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Jean (Wisor) Wallace, to whom he was married April 29, 1948 and who died March 28, 2005; and three brothers, Richard, Norman and Franklin Wallace.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. John White officiating.

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until the hour of services Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
