State Police Investigating Accidental Drowning

Clearfield-based state police are continuing their investigation into what has preliminarily been ruled an accidental drowning.

According to state police, a 17-year-old boy’s family reported him missing from a campsite on their property Saturday. He had been camping the previous night with a friend.

State police conducted a search and located the boy in the Clearfield Creek near Irvona Borough. He was transported to UPMC Altoona but pronounced dead around 4 p.m.

“The death is preliminarily being ruled an accidental drowning,” state police say. “This investigation will continue.”
