Robert D. Shafer, 60, of DuBois died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Nov. 1, 1957, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Creighton) Shafer.
He worked as a truck driver in the gas and oil industry.
He is survived by two sons, Robert D. Shafer II and his wife, Lydia of Bellefonte and Matthew J. Shafer and his fiancée, Rebecca Veltri of DuBois; a brother, Rick Shafer and his wife, Tambra of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sisters, Jo Ann Riley and her husband, Jack of Santee, SC and Pam Shafer of North Platte, Neb.; three grandchildren, Kazin and Keara Shafer and Kiley Gulley; and a former spouse, Rebecca Sayers.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
His passion was his motorcycle. He rode to Sturgis every year for 30 years. He was a strong and kind man who will be missed by many.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice.
