Houtzdale Man Pleads Guilty for Involvement in Cocaine Ring

CLEARFIELD – A Houtzdale man pleaded guilty in court Monday for his involvement with a cocaine ring.

Robert Stephen Gavlak, 28, was sentenced to 11.5 months to two years less one day in jail with five years consecutive probation by Judge Fredric J. Ammerman after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver-cocaine, criminal conspiracy/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of communication facility.

This sentence requires that he continue to cooperate with the prosecution of his co-defendants including his mother, Pamela Gavlak.

According to a press release from the Attorney General’s office, Todd Anderson, 46, Madera was identified as the ring leader of a group selling cocaine and as the one who was bringing two to three ounces of cocaine into Clearfield from Beaver County a few times a month.

Anderson is married to Gavlak’s sister, Catherine Anderson, who was also charged in this case. Todd Anderson’s uncle, Leroy Bryant, 37, of Osceola Mills is facing charges as well.

The individuals were identified after a series of controlled drug purchases from this family.

Investigators seized more than 70 grams of cocaine, $2,750 in cash and drug paraphernalia through raids in Houtzdale in March of 2017 and Philipsburg in June.

In March Todd Anderson pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight to 16 years in state prison.

A recent trial for Pamela Gavlak was postponed due to an illness of a key witness.
