CLEARFIELD – The Fair & Park Board announced the grandstand entertainment for the 158th Clearfield County Fair at a press conference on Monday. The fair will open Sunday, July 29 and will run through Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.

Grandstand entertainment will feature Christian band, Tenth Avenue North, on July 31. Heavenbound, a well-known, local band that’s performed at the fair’s Vesper Services, will make its first appearance on the main stage that night as the opening act.

Country artists, Kane Brown with Smithfield and Brandon Lay, will hit the stage Aug. 1; rock bands, 3 Doors Down and Collective Soul, on Aug. 3; and hard rock bands, Great White with Vixen & Faster Pussycat, on Aug. 4.

Following with tradition, the annual Fair Queen Competition will be July 29, the Fireman’s Parade with fireworks will be July 30 and the Full Pull Productions Truck & Tractor Pulls will be on Aug. 2.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. March 30. You can either complete the order form online at the fair’s official Web site or print one to mail into the Fair Office.

Excluding the Truck & Tractor Pulls, all tickets purchased by midnight April 28 will receive free gate admission. Mail orders must be post-marked by April 28 in order to receive the advance concert/gate special.

According to Fair Manager Greg Hallstrom, it was very difficult to get the grandstand entertainment lined up for this year’s fair.  He said while many artists are available, they aren’t always willing to perform at fairs.

Also, some artists were very costly to book and others fair officials just missed out on by days or a week. “We worked hard and put together the best entertainment we possibly could,” Hallstrom said.

Kid’s Day will be July 31 and will have free gate admission from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.  Ride armbands will be sold for $6 during that time, as well.

While there will not be a “main show,” the Paw Patrol characters will be available for two meet-and-greets with area children at the Grove Stage.

The Expo II Plaza will feature the First Bite Fishing Tank, Swifty Swine Productions’ racing pigs, Bar C Ranch Petting Zoo and Nerger’s Spectacular Tigers. There will also be a mechanical bull and chainsaw carver, Jennifer Black.

Grove Stage entertainment will include the annual Vesper Services on July 29; DJ Super Stew on July 30; Paw Patrol on July 31; students of Guitarnia on Aug. 1; country artist, Joe Quick, on Aug. 2; southern rockin’ country band, Rattletrap Jack, on Aug. 3; and a pop-punk band, Vision to None, on Aug. 4.

Gate admission will remain the same – $8 per person for ages four and over. This includes an all-day ride pass and daily entertainment on the Grove Stage and Expo II Plaza.

It also includes harness racing and various livestock, agricultural, needlework and art and photography exhibits and commercial and non-commercial vendors.

An advance gate-only pass will be available for purchase for $5. The Family Value Pass, which includes six gate-only admissions, will be $25, but rides and parking are not included. An advice ride pass will be available for $7.

The advance gate-only, ride pass and Family Value Pass will be available to order online and by mail, beginning March 30 until the ticket office closes July 30 or while supplies last. The ticket office will open July 5 for phone and walk-up orders.
