Thomas James Johnston, 77, died March 23, 2018, at his home in Philipsburg.
He was born July 24, 1941 in Philipsburg, the son of Irvin “Mose” and Elizabeth (Reese) Johnston.
He was co-owner, with his father, of the vending company, J & J Music Co.
After his retirement, he worked for Long’s Service as a van driver and substituted as a custodian for the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Julie Jo (Jeffries) Johnston; his two daughters, Jill Reed (Rob Reed) and Jennifer Johnston; and six grandchildren, T. Eliot Reed, R. Ethan Reed, C. Todd and Ivy Reed, Emily Kizina and Ainsley Johnston.
He was a 1959 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Senior High School, and he attended the DuBois Business College. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was a life member of AMVETS Post PA 159, American Legion Post PA 0245, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 1173.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing until he was no longer able. He also enjoyed collecting classic films and oldies music. He will be dearly missed by all his loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA of Clearfield County or the music fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Philipsburg, Presqueisle and Fifth Streets., Philipsburg.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Philipsburg.
