CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man was given a state sentence after he pleaded guilty to possessing drugs Tuesday during plea and sentencing court.

Kenja Kasheem Tew, 22, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-marijuana, criminal use of communication facility and possession of drug paraphernalia in one case and possession of drug paraphernalia in a second case.

Due to this criminal activity, his probation on three other prior cases was revoked. Judge Paul E. Cherry sentenced him to a total of 16 months to five years in state prison.

The previous cases involved charges of theft by unlawful taking and simple assault.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a state trooper spotted Tew walking along State Street in Curwensville on Aug. 30. This trooper was aware that Tew had a warrant for his arrest from Clearfield Borough.

Tew responded to the trooper calling his name and was placed under arrest.

When asked if he had anything on him, he admitted he had some “stuff” that would get him into trouble including marijuana and a pipe.

After he was searched, the trooper found three separately packaged bags of marijuana totaling approximately three grams in weight and the pipe.

In an interview with police, he stated he sold marijuana for $5 to $15 per bag or whatever he could get.

Tew advised the officers that he sold marijuana by contacting people using Facebook messenger on his phone.
