SANDY TOWNSHIP – A Sandy Township fire was ruled accidental after a fire marshal’s investigation.
According to state police at Ridgway, the house fire occurred at 1 p.m. Thursday at 86 Bridge Point Court. It was investigated by the Sandy Township Fire Department and a state police fire marshal unit.
State police say a couple was performing remodeling work when they observed smoke coming from the interior wall above the fireplace. When paneling was pulled away, flames were observed on the interior of the wall.
The fire was determined to be accidental in nature. Damage was estimated at $100,000; the homeowner had insurance. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
