CLEARFIELD – Every year the students at the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center (CCCTC) prepare to take their NOCTI (National Occupational Competency Testing Institute) Test.

The NOCTI is a battery of assessments or standardized tests for students studying career and technical programs.

It is a requirement for all 12th grade Career and Technical Education (CTE) students in approved CTE programs to prove a mastery of specific competencies outlined by the Bureau of Career and Technical Education.

One of the skills that is required is the building a set of small steps. Shown in photo is Brett Sherkel, a Moshannon Valley student, who attends the CCCTC, and a set of the steps that was built as a practice test for the upcoming NOCTI.

The decorative steps can be used for many different things such as a planter display or helping pets get up to higher spots. The students will continue to prepare for the upcoming NOTCI in all the programs.
