Sandy Twp. Police Issue Bulletin After Report About Suspicious Van in DuBois

DUBOIS – Local authorities have launched an investigation after a child was reportedly heard in “distress” inside a white-colored cargo panel van.

According to a news release from Sandy Township police, officers, along with DuBois City and Penn State police, responded at 11:04 a.m. Monday to the area of Shaffer Road and Commons Drive.

The suspicious van was reported to police by a passing motorist. It didn’t have any windows and was being driven by a Caucasian male with blonde hair.

A female child was possibly heard screaming “help me.” There was also a sound of kicking that was coming from inside the van, the motorist told police.

However, neither a child nor passengers were observed, according to the news release. At this time, police have limited information and are uncertain of the nature of the observations.

“To err on the side of caution, a bulletin has been issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies and the community,” police said.
