DUBOIS – PASSAGES Inc. will present a “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event in April in DuBois. The event is part of the International Men’s March to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence.
It will take place from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. April 14 at the Edward V. Cherry Amphitheatre at the DuBois City Park.
According to organizers, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®” is a “playful way for men to raise awareness in their community about sexual violence.”
During “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®,” men are asked to literally walk one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes.
“It’s not easy walking in these shoes, but it is fun and it gets the community to talk about something that’s really difficult to talk about – gender relations and men’s sexualized violence against women,” organizers say.
All proceeds benefit PASSAGES Inc., the non-profit sexual violence advocacy organization, serving Clarion, Clearfield and Jefferson counties.
To register, please call PASSAGES at 814-226-7273. Only those who register by Monday, April 2 will be guaranteed a pair of shoes in their size and a free T-shirt.
