March Programs Slated at Parker Dam

Saturdays and Sundays:  March 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 (There is isn’t any program on March 31)

Maple Sugaring: 

2 p.m. at the Sugar Shack

March is Maple Sugaring Season at Parker Dam State Park and you can come learn how real maple syrup is made.

Learn the sweet story of maple sugaring – how it was discovered, how it was made years ago and how you can make it today.

Learn to identify maple trees in winter, how to choose the right trees for tapping, where to place the taps and so on.

A few lucky participants will tap a maple tree, gather in the sap and help out.  Best part – there will be free taste samples for all visitors.  Discover the tradition.  Meet at the Sugar Shack, near Pavilion 7, just past the Cabin Road.

March 1, 8, 15, 22 (Thursdays)

Family and Youth Fly-tying: 

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Environmental Education Classroom

Fee:  $5/session; or, $10/session for family of 2 or more; pay at program

Come learn the basics of tying flies.  A different pattern will be taught each week with materials provided.  The park’s tools will be available for those without.  You can attend all, or just one.
