Robert L. Hummel, 81, of Philipsburg died peacefully Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 under the care of hospice at Greenhills Village (Wynwood House), State College.
Born Sept. 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Harry and Erma (Hummel) Pierceson. He was a 1953 graduate of Philipsburg High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He retired from Penelec and loved wood-working and camping with the Rambling Turtles. He also loved taking trips to Ocean City, Md., and to Disney World with his family.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg; Free & Accepted Masons Moshannon Lodge No. 391; Philipsburg Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1173; and the Altoona Jaffa Shrine.
On Feb. 2, 1962 in Woodland, he married the love of his life, Helen J. (Murray) Hummel, who died Aug. 29, 2016.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Tammie Kephart and her husband, Brian of Beaver Falls, Cynthia Britten and her husband, Randy Fitzgerald of Sevierville, Tenn., and Clifford Lee Hummel of Philipsburg and five grandchildren, Dr. Nate Kephart, Adam Kephart, Jessica Britten, Harley Hummel and James Hummel.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Todd Britten and a half-brother, Harry Lynn Pierceson.
Per his request, there will be no public visitation or service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Curwensville.
