Ellen Robina Greenawalt, 91, of Houtzdale died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
Born July 17, 1926 in Smithmill, she was the daughter of the late George McClay and Mary (Cornely) Close.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Houtzdale, where she served as an elder and trustee. She was also a member of class eight at the church.
She was a member of the former Business and Professional Women’s Club.
She enjoyed reading, eating out and watching The Price is Right and Jeopardy.
She was employed as office manager and insurance agent for Bloom Insurance Co., Clearfield, until her retirement.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick (Janet) Greenawalt of Charlotte, NC and Gerald (Laraine) Greenawalt of Hermitage.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jerry Allen Greenawalt, Brian Greenawalt, Christina Belinda and Michelle Mitchell, six great-grandchildren and a sister, Georgia Shomo of Clearfield.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Close and a sister, Mary Jo Haggerty.
Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the service time at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Alexander Cemetery, Madera.
