REYNOLDSVILLE – Jeff Tech students recently competed at Skills USA representing District 7, which is composed of 19 schools.

The school had 32 students take part in the competition. Of that, 25 students came back with medals, and the first place finishers are eligible to advance to the state competition in Hershey.

Many students competed in areas that were challenging for them and new for the school.

The students, their placements and the area of competition are listed below:

Skills USA is a national student organization that instills the development of employability, participatory and leadership skills to complement the occupational skills developed by students in technical education classrooms or work-based learning sites.

Some of the purposes of the Skills competitions are to unite a common bond in students; develop leadership abilities; instill work ethic; help students attain a purposeful life; create enthusiasm for learning; and promote a high standard in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship and safety.

The state competition will be held in Hershey from April 18-20.  This year’s theme is “Champions at Work, Job-Ready Day One.”
