Roy H. Lutz Jr., 71, of Clearfield died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

He was born Sept. 25, 1946, the son of the late Roy H. Lutz Sr. and Grace (Maines) Lutz.

On June 8, 1973, he married Florence “Flo” (Box) Lutz in Herrin, Ill.

He was a 1964 graduate of Clearfield Area High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force.

After his service, he went on to Southern Illinois University, where he received an Associate’s degree in civil engineering.

Retired, he previously worked for K&J Coal Co., as an equipment operator and Satterlee Oil Co., as a truck driver.

He was a past Master of the Clearfield Lodge 314 Free & Accepted Masons, Valley Altoona Consistory 32, Jaffa Shrine, a former Master of the Mount Joy Grange 584 and a member of the Clearfield Elks 540, National Rifle Association, National Muzzle Loading Association and Old Town Sportsmen’s Association.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Flo (Box) Lutz; four children, Eric and his wife, Lisa Lutz of Smethport, Lisa and her husband, James Peters of Clearfield, Cynthia and her husband, Kurt Schaich of Chambersburg and Jennifer and her husband, James Swain of Pownal, Maine; nine grandchildren, Caleb and Abby Lutz, Bryan, Elizabeth and Brenna Peters, Carl and Roy Schaich, Grace and Samuel Swain; a great-granddaughter, Lilly Peters; and nieces and nephews, Bruce and his wife, Michele Rodely, Brian and his wife, Tammy Rodely and Denise and her husband, Chance Woodside, all of DuQuoin, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Lou Rodely.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Kenneth Leonard officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the funeral home.

A Masonic memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. An additional hour of viewing will be held from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
