Winter Olympics opening ceremony sees historic handshake

The 2018 Winter Games began with fireworks, dancing and cheering — but the most dramatic development at Pyeongchang took place in the stands as South Korean President Moon Jae-in shook hands with Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Moon shook hands with a number of world leaders including Kim and Kim Yong Nam, the head of the North Korean delegation.

Kim Yo Jong is the first member of the North’s ruling dynasty to visit the south since the end of the Korean War in 1953.
