John S. “Westy” Kucharski Sr., 92, of DuBois died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
Born July 29, 1925, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Izban) Kucharski.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II.
On Nov. 6, 1948, he married Victoria “Vicki” (Rokosky) Kucharski. She survives.
He retired from the DuBois City Street Department. Previous to that, he worked at Airco Speer for many years.
He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He belonged to the Olympic Athletic Club and the Polish Citizens Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
He is survived by one son, Martin Kucharski of DuBois; two sisters, Dorothy London of Bellefonte and Bernadine Sekula of Chicago, Ill.; and one grandson, Michael Kucharski and his wife, Megan of Punxsutawney.
He was preceded in death by a son, John S. “Jack” Kucharski Jr.; three brothers, Stanley, Joseph and Paul Kucharski; 11 sisters, Catherine Kucharski, Josephine Beshada, Pauline Boroski, Magdallena Kulbacki, Agnes Shemucha, Bertha and Elizabeth Kucharski, Mary Largey, Veronica Venus, Florence Kosempa and Rita Tryzna; and an infant brother.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Friday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Full military honors will be accorded from the church by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
