Obituary Notice: Dorothy (Dottie) J. Elias

Dorothy (Dottie) J. Elias (formerly Jury), 83, of Tyrone, Ga., received her heavenly promotion Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 after a very short illness.

She lived a full and rewarding life. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother anyone could ask for and now is celebrating her eternal reward with her Heavenly Father.

She was born Sept. 5, 1934 in Pottersdale, the daughter of Glenn and Betreca (Hoover) Lucas. At the age of 12, she taught herself to play piano.

She graduated from the Cooper Township High School in Lanse in 1952 and married her childhood sweetheart in April of 1954.

Within two years, she had two boys and raised them at home before beginning her working career.

She worked for more than 20 years at Quaker Market and Riverside Market as a cashier, a medical secretary for several doctors and medical supply in Clearfield and most recently for 23 years for Operation Mobilization in Tyrone, Ga., as a gift entry specialist until she retired at the age of 82.

While in Pennsylvania, she was active at the Clearfield Alliance Church, often playing piano. She was later a member at the Crosspoint Community Church in Peachtree City, Ga.

She’s survived by her brothers, Donald (Doris) Lucas of Karthaus and James (Sally) Lucas of Falls Church, Va., and sisters, Marie Taylor of Clearfield and Tess Peedin of Richmond, Va.

She’s survived by her sons, Bryan (Betsy) Jury of Clearfield and Randy (Jaana) Jury of Tyrone, Ga.; grandchildren, Daniel (Joanna) Jury of Atlanta, Ga., Mikael (Stephanie) Jury of Jackson, Miss., Adam Jury and Abigail Jury, both of Clearfield, and Samuel Jury and Emily Jury, both of Tyrone, Ga.; a great-grandchild, Caroline Jury of Atlanta, Ga.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved Boston Terrier, Brandie of 12 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, (28 years), Emerson K. Jury (1983), and her second husband (five years), George Elias (1993).

In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly requests that memorial gifts be sent to Clearfield Alliance Church in Clearfield.

Visitation was held Jan. 7 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, 180 N. Jeff Davis Dr., Fayetteville, GA, with the Rev. Chip Kirk officiating.

Burial will be in Clearfield with a memorial service at a later date, which is still to be determined.
