Mary Jane (Diehl) Bennett, 82, of Milton died Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at the Milton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Milton.
Born April 22, 1935 in Grampian, she was the daughter of Meirl and Lerena (Wassam) Haag.
She had worked for the Milton Shoe Factory Cafeteria and also the former Ames Department Store.
She had also worked for H&R Block as a tax return preparer. She was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Milton.
She was first wed to Donald Keith Diehl, who preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Duane A. Diehl; a sister, Helen Seaburn; and a brother, Lawrence E. Haag.
She wed Gilbert H. Bennett on Dec. 28, 1985. He survives along with two daughters, Bonnie Jane Stevenson and her husband, Michael of St. Thomas, Pa., and Darla M. Treese of Montgomery, Pa.
She is survived by three step-children, Larry A. Sheets and his wife, Susan and Sylvia L. Eschbach and her husband, Rollin, both of Milton, and Gary W. Bennett and his wife, Donna of McEwansville, Pa.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and a sister, Darlene Y. Smith and her husband, Charles of Falls Creek.
At the request of Mrs. Bennett, there will be no public visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church, Grampian, with the Rev. Father L. Stephen Collins as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Grampian.
