Ellen Elizabeth (Dungey) Stahlnecker, 85, of DuBois died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018.
Born Sept. 18, 1932 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie (Oyston) Dungey.
She was married to the man of her dreams, George Henry Stahlnecker Jr., June 3, 1951, and he preceded her in death. They were married for 66 years.
She was a devoted wife, and she enjoyed fishing, gardening and quilting. She was a member of and enjoyed the Chat N Sew quilt club for many years.
She is mourned by her daughters, Sue and her husband, Harry Rugh and Karen and her husband, Robert Gerew and her devoted son, Les Stahlnecker.
Her beloved granddaughter, Emily Gerew, who was the light of her life and who could always make her smile, also survives. Her sister, Ruth Himes and beloved sisters-in-law, Betty Cessna and Helen Molnar, survive.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, William (Bill) Dungey and Edward (Ed) Dungey and sisters, Doris Brooks and Lois Aughenbaugh.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of hospice. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of her life and the blessing of the time we spent with her.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held celebrating Ellen and George’s lives at a future date. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
