CHESTER HILL – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is notifying area motorists that it has closed a Route 2020 (Presqueisle Street) bridge in Clearfield County.
The bridge spans Moshannon Creek in the borough of Chester Hill near the Clearfield/Centre County line.
The bridge was closed earlier Wednesday based on the results of a recent inspection. The bridge will remain closed until repairs can be made.
Those repairs will take place as soon as possible. During this closure an official detour will be in place. The detour directs drivers to use McGuirk Street, Walton Street/West Maple Street and Water Street.
The steel truss bridge was originally constructed in 1940, is 128 feet long and carries an average of more than 2,000 vehicles daily.
