CLEARFIELD – Beth Girardi, trustee, and Antony Ferlazzo, president, of the local chapter of the Sons & Daughters of Italy stopped in the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc. last week to present a check for the Meals on Wheels program in the amount of $200.
All funds raised through the Sons & Daughters of Italy stay in Clearfield County.
In Clearfield County, the Meals on Wheels and More program serves nearly 130,000 meals to more than 1,000 consumers per year.
Approximately 650 meals are delivered every day. In addition, another 40,000 meals per year are served at various senior centers in the county.
Since its inception in 1983, the program has grown from 350 consumers to over 650. These meals are funded in part by the Federal Older Americans Act and other state programs, which have guidelines for service.
