Thomas J. Burns, 70, of Akron, Ohio died peacefully with his family by his side Dec. 31, 2017.
He was born Dec. 21, 1947 in Osceola Mills to the late Raymond and Margaret Burns.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired with more than 30 years of service with Goodyear Tire and Rubber and Viox.
He was a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church. He could often be found enjoying a day of golf or fishing.
Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Christine; children, Dr. Carrie (Dr. Lewis III) Diulus, Brian Burns and Renee Burns; and brothers, Michael (Linda), Patrick (Betsy), Gerald and Lawrence (Sue) Burns.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Megan Diulus, Lewis Diulus IV, Ellianna Burns, Trenton Burns and Phillycia Wilson as well as many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne St., Akron, OH 44312.
