Joseph R. Ross, 88, of DuBois and formerly of Falls Creek, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
Born July 10, 1929 in Brockway, he is the son of the late Timothy and Angeline (Schiano) Ross.
On May 27, 1957, he married Ethel I. “Pat” (Cocker) Ross. She preceded him in death Sept. 30, 2010.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he served during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Falls Creek High School.
He retired as a deputy constable for the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Department.
He was a member of the St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church.
He was a football official for many years in the youth and high school level in the area. He also enjoyed photography and was a HAM radio operator.
He is survived by four children, Genetta Bailley and her husband, Sam of Falls Creek, Joseph J. Ross and his wife, Cheryl of Brockway, Patricia Newpher and her husband, Louis of Reynoldsville and Gina Ross of Largo, Fla.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, Timothy Ross and his wife, Karen of Falls Creek.
There is no public visitation and services will be held private by the family. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in Falls Creek.
