Campus Corner: Spaid, Rauckhorst Top Teams in Rebounds

ERIE — Sophomore Cody Spaid (Clearfield) posted 11 points, including a pair of three-pointers that were his first of the season, and a team-high seven rebounds for Pitt-Greensburg in a 79-54 road loss to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Penn State Behrend Sunday.

Spaid also had three assists and one steal for the Bobcats, who led 37-31 at halftime before falling to 3-5 with a 2-3 AMCC record.

In conference rankings, he is sixth with 6.8 rebounds per game and tied for fourth with 1.5 blocks per game.

Spaid’s totals show 64 points (8.0 ppg), 54 rebounds, 18 assists, 12 blocks and four steals.

DUBOIS — Sophomore center Trey Rauckhorst (Curwensville) shared team honors for rebounding in Penn State DuBois’ two road games against NCAA Division II opponents this week.

He pulled down five in an 84-53 loss at Clarion Monday night and six in a 94-52 loss to Malone at Canton, Ohio, Tuesday night as the Lions tumbled to 5-6.

Rauckhorst also scored three points against Clarion and had six points, one steal and one block against Malone in his fourth start.

Sophomore guard Caleb Strouse (Clearfield) appeared in both games, recording one rebound and one assist at Malone.

Rauckhorst has registered 57 points, 56 rebounds, 10 blocks, two assists and one steal.

Strouse has two rebounds and one assist in three games.
