Mahaffey House Fire Caused $40K in Damage, Ruled Accidental

MAHAFFEY – A fire caused an estimated $40,000 worth of damage to a house Tuesday night in Mahaffey.

According to state police, it occurred at 10:30 p.m. at 11251 Burnside McGee Hwy. Smoke was observed inside and a resident went outside, discovering fire around the flue for the pellet stove.

State police say the fire originated inside between the wall and the pellet stove. It was determined to be accidental in nature due to the stove being too close to the combustible wall.
