Clearfield Residents Urged to Cooperate with Snow Removal

CLEARFIELD – As residents continue to dig themselves out of the recent snow, Clearfield Borough urges cooperation with snow removal.

At Thursday’s Clearfield Borough Council meeting, Street Department Foreman Todd Kling said the crew has been out plowing and salting.

Kling said while things went well with the snow removal, residents can help keep things running smoothly.

Kling encouraged the residents to get to know the plow operators and to work together. He said depending on the size of the truck and the width of the road, it may take three or four passes with the plow before the road is cleared.

Kling said if residents get to know the operator, they can get an idea of their routes and they can wait until the operator is finished before clearing the end of their driveway or parking area. This way, the driveway won’t be “plowed in.”

Kling also said he would like the council to come up with a paving plan for the spring, instead of waiting for fall, as they have done in previous years.

Kling said if the borough works to get the paving together earlier, they can get better prices. It will also allow the streets to be paved and the tar/chip work to be completed in the spring/summer.

Kling said if the council can meet in March to discuss the road work. He encouraged the council members to go into their wards to get ideas of what roads and alleys should be on the paving list for the year.

Council Member Brian Lytle asked if the earlier paving would still allow the crew time to do the preparations for the paving. Kling said he believes the crew will still be able to do the work.

The council also wants to remind residents that there will be no Christmas tree pick up and that residents should take their trees to the compost site.
