Bruce A. Blake, 71, of Houtzdale died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017 at his residence.
Born Dec. 12, 1946 in Westover, he was the son of the late Ronald and Esther (Kennedy) Blake.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Houtzdale.
He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 980, the Houtzdale American Legion Post No. 591 and the Morann Club.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed playing cards, pool and darts, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He had worked for Kitko Wood Products and retired from the Morann Club where he was employed as a bartender.
He is survived by his children, James (Janet) Blake, Kimberly Hockenberry and Nicole (Steven) Blake Gardner, all of Houtzdale, and Ronald (Jodi) Blake; seven grandchildren, Ryan Blake, Charles Richards, Tyra Blake, Tyson Blake, Blake Gardner, Aiden Rowand and Elliott Blake; and a great-grandson, Gavin Blake Schultz.
Also surviving are two brothers, Barry Blake of Philipsburg and Lavoine McKee of Milesburg and a sister, Emma Atkins of Houtzdale, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Litzinger in 2010; two brothers, Willis Blake and Richard McKee; and two sisters, Mary Jean Hazel and Linda Hoopsick.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale, with Robert Ford officiating.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Monday at the funeral home.
The Houtzdale Loyal Order of Moose will hold a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin, with graveside military honors accorded by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.
