Margaret A. Shimel, 85, of Houtzdale died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.
Born Sept. 3, 1932 in Houtzdale, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan and Hilda (Hagyard) Hutchinson.
On Nov. 26, 1954, she married Eugene G. Shimel in Winchester, Va. He survives.
She graduated from Philipsburg Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in Williamsport until moving back to Houtzdale.
She then worked at Philipsburg State General Hospital until her retirement in 1982.
She was active in the Presbyterian Church of Houtzdale and the American Legion. She and Gene loved to spend time at Glendale Lake fishing and boating.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jonathan and Robert Hutchison and an infant.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Dave) Camberg of Glen Hope; a son, Thomas (Lynn) Shimel of Hawk Run; two sisters, Mary (Sam) Sleigh of Brockway and Hilda Mae Hutchinson of Houtzdale; a brother, Thomas (Ruthann) Hutchinson of West Chester; five grandchildren, Theresa, Carol, Beth, Dana and Jonathan; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Stryker.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. ? 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey. The Rev. Thomas McCoy will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin.
