Clearfield Borough Council to Increase Taxes by 2 Mils

CLEARFIELD ? Clearfield Borough residents will see a two-mil tax increase for 2018.

At Thursday?s meeting, the Clearfield Borough Council approved the 2018 budget and set the tax rate at 27 mills.

The council issued a statement following the vote.

?Clearfield Borough is proud of its employees and the quality and efficiency of the services that it provides to the community. For 11 years, the council has been able to hold the line on taxes, while continuing to provide the same level of services.

?The inevitable increase of costs over time has led to the decision that a tax increase is necessary. An average borough home would see an increase of approximately $25 annually with a two-mil tax increase.?

?The additional tax revenue will enable the borough to continue to fulfill its duties of providing 24-hour public safety coverage as well as the maintenance and improvement of local infrastructure,” the statement said.

Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott said the increase will result in about $73,000 more in revenues.
