Madeline Jean Vail, 79, of Philipsburg died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born Nov. 19, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Robert G. and Anna Mae (Beatty) Scott.

She was employed many years in the clothing industry, retiring in 2009 from Streamline Fashions.

She loved camping, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

On July 2, 1954 in Cumberland, Md., she married George F. Vail, whom died Aug. 22, 2010.

She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Vail Sr. and his wife, Amy of Brisbin and Mark E. Vail of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Jamie Stanton and her husband, Joel, Robert E. Vail Jr., Courtney Kowach and her husband, David, Tyler Vail, Shelby Vail, Seth Vail and Curtis Vail; four great-grandchildren, Kaden Vail, MacKenzie Vail, Mia Kowach and Carson Kowach; and an uncle, Donald Scott of Jersey Shore.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, George F. Vail Jr. on Sept. 16, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with Pastor Christine Roe officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. ? 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. ? 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
