Martha Marion (Davis) Hoyt, 90, a resident of Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville and formerly of Curwensville, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at Ridgeview.

Born Jan. 20, 1927 in Port Homer, Ohio, she was the daughter of William and Mary (Little) Davis. 

Mrs. Hoyt was a homemaker and had also retired from the former McGregor?s Sportswear of Clearfield as a seamstress. 

He was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Clearfield, where she had also taught Sunday school.

She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local 118B, the Eastern Star, the Martha Washington Lodge of Clearfield and the Red Hat Society.

She was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader, active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. She was also a loving mother and grandmother.

On Aug. 1, 1944 in Clearfield, she wed Charles Hoyt, who preceded her in death Sept. 19, 1983.  

She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter and infant son; brothers, Walter, Raymond, Harold and Daniel Davis; and sisters, Peggy Leigey and Thelma Hagan

Surviving are three children, Linda Holt and her husband, Gerald of Sykesville, Md., Russell Holt and his wife, Charlene of Curwensville and Doris Jean Anderson of Grampian. 

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two brothers, William Davis and his wife, Anna and Edward Davis and his wife, Kathy, both of Clearfield.

There will be no public visitation.

Graveside services for Mrs. Hoyt will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde with the Rev. Scott Schultz officiating.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Clearfield Free Methodist Church, 520 Turnpike Ave., Clearfield, PA 16830.
