CLEARFIELD – On Monday the eighth grade students had another opportunity to participate in the Exploring Program at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School.

The program is designed to educate and show the students that there are job opportunities in Clearfield County and the surrounding areas upon their high school graduation.

The November Exploring Program featured KC Lezzer, the vice president of Lezzer Lumber Co., and Rob Swales, the chief executive officer of Clearly Ahead Development.

Lezzer spoke about the future of construction and manufacturing opportunities, while Swales discussed the significance of business opportunities in the Clearfield area.

Both speakers acknowledged the importance of positive attitudes, perseverance and a hard work ethic to obtain a job.

Lezzer also noted that the construction industry will need 1.5 million more skilled laborers by 2019.

Students were given a significant amount of information about jobs as laborers with various degrees of education and potential earned incomes.

Area businesses, combined with the Greater Clearfield Chamber of Commerce, continue to raise funds for the Exploring Program.  If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact the Chamber Office at 814-765-7567.

This program was developed and made possible by the Boy Scouts of America.  The goal of this program is to one day grow the work force in the Clearfield area.

Current program sponsors are C. Alan Walker; CBT Bank, a Division of Riverview; Clearfield County Career & Technology Center; First Commonwealth Bank; Naddeo & Lewis LLC; Penn Highlands Clearfield; Pennsylvania Grain Processing; Wal-Mart Distribution; Wal-Mart Supercenter; and Wal-Mart Transportation.
