Marjorie M. Murdock, 85, of DuBois died Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Dec. 31, 1931 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late S. Paul and Adelaide (Worrall) Spears. She was raised in Reynoldsville.
On May 12, 1951, she married Joseph J. Murdock. He preceded her in death Aug. 3, 1999.
She and her husband were the owners/operators of the Silver Front Restaurant in Sykesville for more than 30 years.
After her retirement from the Silver Front, she worked at the Penn State DuBois Bookstore for seven years.
She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church.
She was always very active in many community services and projects in the Sykesville area. She enjoyed ceramics, bingo, traveling and most importantly, being with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Murdock and Karen Perry, both of DuBois; three grandchildren, Tony Perry of Moshannon, Pa., John Perry and his wife, Jodie of Harmony and James Perry and his wife, Angela of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and James Spears; three sisters, Adelaide Spears, Vivian Casey and Mary Reay Shearer; and a grandson, Joshua Martino.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice.
