CLEARFIELD – For more than three decades, Anne S. Thacik, either in body or spirit, has helped county senior citizens.

Anne’s influence was never more apparent than Oct. 12, when people gathered at the Clearfield Knights of Columbus for a charity auction that carries her name.

The auction is held each October to raise funds for the Friends of the Area Agency on Aging Auxiliary, which Anne founded.  Funds raised are directed to specific purchases and services for the elderly in Clearfield County.

“The turnout was more than past years with lots of new faces,” said Terry Khoury, coordinator of mission advancement & public relations and staff liaison to the auxiliary.

Executive Director, Kathy Gillespie, welcomed the guests and reminded everyone to keep in mind the purpose of the night’s evening and the importance of the auction and how it helps the services the CCAAA provides.

“The auxiliary has done an outstanding job,” she continued.

This year, the Auction Committee was able to secure an all-time high number of sponsors for the auction.

Penn Highlands Clearfield, Penn Highlands Community Nurses and CBT were the gold and silver sponsors.

Other premier sponsors included East End Energy, Helmbold & Stewart Group, Home Instead Senior Care, Mutual of America, UGI Utilities Inc., CNB Bank, Janney Montgomery Scott, Northwest Savings and The Depot at Doolittles.

The evening took on a 1940’s theme in celebration of the agency’s 40th anniversary.  Hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, desserts, chocolates, chesses, wines and 1940’s signature drinks were served.

Starr Hill Winery supplied the wine and Legends, Gateway Café, Luigi’s, Palumbo’s Meat Market, Express Café, Shannon’s Catering, Hockman’s Candy, Sapp Bros., Station 101, HealthSouth and Wegman’s supplied the auction guests with treats.

Khoury noted that this event has raised the most funds and will be used to further the mission of the agency while doing the most good for the most deserving of Clearfield County.

The agency would like to express its thanks to its patron supporters as well as everyone who donated and to those who were bidders for another successful year.

Programs and services of the agency are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc., Mature Resources Foundation, local and consumer contributions and fundraisers such as this.
