JUST IN: State Police: Two People Killed, Two Injured in Decatur Twp. Crash

DECATUR TOWNSHIP – State police at Clearfield have released details about a fatal crash that occurred Friday morning on Walton Street in Decatur Township.

State police say the crash claimed the lives of Billi Joann Johns, 46, and James Spencer, 49, both of Beccaria. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Kim Shaffer.

The crash also injured two other people, Joe Denochick, 78, of West Decatur and Michael Wayland, 40, of Osceola Mills. Both were transported to UPMC Altoona for medical treatment.

According to state police, Johns was traveling southbound on Walton Street while Denochick was traveling northbound. Johns’ vehicle reportedly entered the northbound lane and into the path of the Denochick vehicle.

Denochick attempted to swerve to miss Johns’ vehicle. Johns attempted to re-enter the southbound lane, both vehicles collided with each other.

State police say neither the drivers nor their passengers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

State police were assisted at the scene by Moshannon Valley and Sandy Ridge Emergency Medical Services, Columbia, Philipsburg, Sandy Ridge, Houtzdale and Chester Hill fire companies and Philipsburg Ambulance.
