Who Was Anne S. Thacik?

You may have heard recent promotions for the upcoming 22nd annual Anne S. Thacik Charity Auction happening this Thursday, at the Knights of Columbus in Clearfield.  Did you ever wonder who Anne is?

Anne Smith Thacik lived her life to the fullest and in doing so touched many with her determination, her loving soul, her wonderful sense of humor and her pride for the things and people she loved.

Anne selflessly devoted her time, wisdom and talents to her community, church, family and friends, and she was an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her kindness.  Anne held many leadership positions within the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging (CCAAA).

She was the director of the RSVP program, a member of the advisory council, a past president and vice president for the CCAAA Board of Directors and a past president of the North West Regional Council on Aging.

She was a member of the Department of Aging seven-member task force on rural elderly, a member of the PA Council on Aging appointed by Gov. Tom Ridge and confirmed by the state Senate and a founder and former president of the Friends of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Auxiliary.

The Anne S. Thacik Auction was formerly known as “Wreathes for Reasons and Seasons” and started out as a small gathering of Anne and her colleagues enjoying lunch and raffling off various wreathes.

Today, this event has grown to include items for people of all ages and interests. The event has grown into one of the premier events in the county with typically 200-250 people in attendance.

The night consists of a silent auction, live auction, various games of chance, appetizers and beverages.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a silent auction and various games of chance. The live auction begins at 6:30 p.m., with Bob E. Day as emcee, and local favorite, Pat Errigo, as auctioneer.

Wine and a variety of desserts and appetizers will be available throughout the evening for your enjoyment.

More than 160 items are on the docket to be auctioned, including dining out packages, exquisite art work, autographed items, event tickets, theme baskets, electronics, hand-made items and much more.

Admission tickets are $10 each, but special pricing is available for groups at 15 tickets for $100.  Funds raised will help support programs and services of the Area Agency on Aging.
