Susan Butler Maines, 66, of Curwensville died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at Clarion Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion.
Born March 24, 1951 in Altoona, she was the daughter of Joseph and Patricia (Shaw) Butler.
She attended the DuBois Business College and received degrees in bookkeeping and medical transcription.
She was a member of the Curwensville Women of the Moose, the Coalition for People Against Cancer and the Glendale Area Women’s Club
She had been a bookkeeper for Wolf Furniture, Lykens Cycle and Berg Electronics.
She had also worked for the Bayer Clothing Group at the former Kent I, Kent II and Fletcherville Plants.
At her retirement, she was working as a home health nurse for Helpmates and Comfort Keepers.
On Nov. 19, 1983 in Philipsburg, she wed Robert W. Maines, who survives, along with three children, Sylvia Maines of Grampian, Emily Maines of Curwensville and step-son, Ryan Maines of Erie and a granddaughter, Hayden McCartney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-son, Richard Maines; and brothers, Michael and Dennis Butler. She was the last member of her generation.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Rev. Stephen D. Shields officiating.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
