Joseph F. Marrara, 86, of Clearfield died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.

He was born Oct. 18, 1930 in Staten Island, NY, a son of the late Joseph and Thelma (Moore) Marrara.

Mr. Marrara owned and operated Clearfield Distributing Co., from 1945 until his retirement. 

He enjoyed watching football and baseball; however, his biggest joy was spending time with his family. 

Mr. Marrara also cherished traveling, camping and going on cruises.  In fact, he and his family have visited most of the U.S. states.  He will be remembered for his quick wit and gift of conversation.

Mr. Marrara was a member of the Clearfield American Legion, Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars, the former Fourth Ward Fire Co., and most of the social organizations in the area.  He was a proud life member of the Clearfield Sons and Daughters of Italy No. 189.

He attended Centre Grove United Methodist Church, Clearfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Neff) Marrara, and five children, Cindy Bogacki, Sharron McBride and her husband, Dave, William Marrara and Sean Rockmore, all of Clearfield, and Patricia Aughenbaugh of Curwensville.

He’s also survived by 11 grandchildren, Travis, Mindy, Amanda and her husband, Sean, Jennifer and her husband, Korey, Michael, Alycia, Casey, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Pru and Nolyn and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at cemetery by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Posts Honor Guard.

Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 108R N. Second St., Suite 1B, Clearfield, or to the charity of choice.
