Donna Jeannine (Shimmel) Winters of Tampa, Fla., made her final journey from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017.
She was born Nov. 13, 1937 in Philipsburg to George K. Shimmel Sr. and Erma E. (Lansberry) Shimmel. She graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola High School in 1955.
She married Bradley T. Winters Sr. in Norfolk, Va., on July 16, 1958. Soon after, the couple moved to Florida where they raised their family.
She is survived by two daughters, Robin McRae (Stephen Sr.) of Travelers Rest, SC and Jeannette Winters of Lutz, Fla., and two sons, Bradley “Ted” Winters Jr. of Tampa, Fla., and Lamar “Brooks” Winters (Annette) of Knoxville, Tenn.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, Stephen McRae Jr., Evan McRae (Ruthanne), George Winters, Bradley Winters III (Reanna Havenner), Cory Winters and Allicyn Donison (Bradley); three great-grandchildren, Lucas Havenner, Bronson Winters and Elisabeth McRae; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Shimmel of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jeannine Annette; her parents; and brother, George K. Shimmel Jr.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed serving the Lord at Bay Ceia Baptist Church and Sheldon Road Baptist Church in Tampa, Fla.
She worked at Spotless Cleaners (McNatt’s) for a short time once her children were grown.
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She leaves a legacy of treasured memories and a life filled with serving others.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
