Obituary Notice: Thomas A. Turner

Thomas A. Turner, 59, of West Decatur died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at his home after his courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 23, 1958 in Clearfield, the son of Gordon and Dolores (Diehl) Turner.

On June 4, 1977, he married Denise (Sloppy) Turner, who survives.

He was employed by Clearfield Metal Technologies in the maintenance department. He had previously worked for Appalachian Wood and Gearhart Excavating. 

He was a devoted member of Hyde Wesleyan Church. He humbly volunteered his time at various church events and also participated in a mission trip to Africa.

He was a member of the boy scouts, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

He had developed a high level of skill and became the local expert to seek when repairs needed to be done.

In his younger years, he enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. But above all, he was a devoted husband, father and pappy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Denise Turner of West Decatur, and two daughters, Shannon and her husband, Jason Gill of Woodland and Sherry and her husband, Michael Colton of Curwensville.

He is survived by five grandchildren as well as one on the way, Jaylee, Owen, Luke and Trey Thomas Gill and Ty and Brielle Colton.

He is also survived by four brothers, Dean Turner and his significant other, Mary Luzier of DuBois, Ed Turner and his wife, Kim of Mahaffey, Mark Turner and his wife, Sally of Philipsburg and Scott Turner and his wife, Amy of Grampian and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hyde Wesleyan Church with Pastor Robert Croft officiating. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hyde Wesleyan Church.

An additional hour of viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the service time at the church on Wednesday.
