CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man is facing charges after he was allegedly found in possession of marijuana and admitted to selling it.
Kenja Kasheem Tew, 22, has been charged by Clearfield-based state police with criminal use of a communication facility, F3; manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, F; and use/possession of drug paraphernalia, M.
Tew waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court at the Clearfield County Jail. His bail has been set at $50,000 monetary.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 30, troopers were traveling in an unmarked unit around 4 p.m. on State Street in Curwensville Borough.
A trooper observed Tew walking along the sidewalk. The troopers stopped and one stated, “Hey Ken.” He went and spoke with the trooper who confirmed his identity as Tew.
The trooper had previous knowledge that Tew had an active arrest warrant through the Clearfield Borough police. He was subsequently placed under arrest.
The trooper asked Tew if he had anything on him to which he replied “some stuff that would get him in trouble.” He then allegedly admitted to having marijuana and a pipe in his pocket.
Tew was searched due to a lawful arrest, and the trooper found three, separately packaged bags of marijuana as well as a pipe. The marijuana appeared to be approximately three grams in weight, the trooper said.
Tew was taken to the Clearfield barracks for the purposes of an interview. He told state police he would sell the marijuana for $5 to $15 per bag or for “whatever he could get.”
He also allegedly admitted that he had intentions of selling the marijuana he was found in possession of and he would get in contact with people through Facebook messenger.
State police seized Tew’s cellular phone as part of the investigation.
In a second case, Tew has been charged by Clearfield Borough police with use/possession of drug paraphernalia. In this case, he also waived his right to a preliminary hearing; his bail has been set at $10,000 monetary.
